Live video:

“Daykisser’s music isn’t pretentious, combative, heavy-handed or apathetic; it’s easy. The straightforward songwriting of frontman Jesse Wilcox is reminiscent of the late ‘90s and early aughts, an unfortunately now-nostalgic era of music.” — Sam Prager, Memphis Current

JOELTON MAYFIELD (headlining, 3rd)
is a post-alt-country indie rock songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee. This show would be part of a duo acoustic tour in promotion of his EP, I Hope You Make It, self-released in December 2019 with a physical release from Nashville cassette label Banana Tapes.

Joelton Mayfield has toured with and/or opened shows for Briston Maroney, Caroline Kingsbury, Annie DiRusso, Katy Kirby, Peaer, Human People, Boyscott, Secondhand Sound, Future Crib, The Styrofoam Winos, Leggy, Human People, Nordista Freeze, Dream Wave, Bendrix Littleton, Blaketheman1000, allie, Bats, Crisman, Skirts, Dead Sullivan, and tons of others. Mayfield has been on the radio: Nashville’s Lightning 100, Memphis’s Ditty TV, and Central Texas’s KBEY. In print, Mayfield has been featured in The Nashville Scene as well as The Picayune, The Highlander, and The Daily Tribune in Central Texas. Mayfield has played SXSW official showcases as part of other projects in 2017 and 2019, headlined himself at Luckenbach, Texas, played Old Settler’s Music Festival twice, played Burnet Bluebonnet Festival twice, and toured small performance venues all across the U.S. since 2017.

Artist Bio:
Raised in small-town Central Texas and based in Nashville, Tennessee, Joelton Mayfield crafts hard-hitting Alt-Country with a DIY Indie-Rock ethic. Mayfield’s distinct take on the genre blends Wilco-esque musicality with the dynamics and melodic edge of fourth-wave emo to create a sound all his own. This musical innovation underscores Mayfield’s deft lyricism, which draws a Southern Gothic literary sensibility and deals intimately with the tensions embedded in family, religion, masculinity, and love in the American South.

“This batch of five rootsy, Jeff Tweedy-influenced rock songs from the 22-year-old, gentle-voiced songsmith is perfect for any occasion in which thinking, feeling or singing at the top of your lungs is involved.” — Jacqueline Ziesloft, Nashville Scene on “I Hope You Make It – EP”
